It really is beginning to look a lot like it, you know...

Last week was the opening of the first ever Newport winter Wonderland and I was lucky enough to be invited to go along to the VIP opening night.

We were treated to food and yummy snacks, a go on the rides and I met some very important people! I wasn't brave enough to go ice skating though - having broken my foot at the beginning of the year and with a walking tour coming up on the weekend I thought I had better not risk it! I treated myself to a second helping of doughnuts instead!

I bumped into the guys from Newport City Radio and they invited me into the station for a chat which was wonderful so I'm looking forward to reporting back on that soon.

It was great to see the site of the old Newport Centre being put to good use bringing some festive joy and happiness. I couldn't resist picking up a fragment of pool tile, complete with grout, as a memento of all the good times in that fabulous place.

What I would not give to walk up the stairs to the Riverside Suite  and grab a drink before watching my favourite band with the faint smell of pool chemicals in the air. I miss it! But here's to the future, the space is in great use right now. It's wonderful to have a Winter Wonderland of our own. I can't wait to take my grandson to create some special Christmas memories <3

Toasted marshmallow anyone?
