On Friday 12th July I did a tour to around 15 wonderful people and we had a great time. I was really lucky to get some photos of this one! Stay tuned for more tours :)

Newport in Full Colour! A new FREE guided tour

September in Newport was a really colourful time. This was thanks in no small way to the Full Colour Maindee festival. All around Maindee, just a few minutes walk from the city centre, the walls, streets, floors, telecoms boxes and more came alive as local, national and international artists created masterpieces that will be seen by so many for so long. In the bright blue skies of September, the pieces were vibrant, evocative and inspiring, but secretly, I'm hoping for some snow this winter because I think they will be an astounding contrast to the perfect whiteness of the magical Christmas precipitation (that we so rarely get at Christmas!). I'm so, so pleased to have been asked by the fantastic Art On The Hill organisation to create and deliver a walking tour of these wonderful works as part of the AOTH weekend at the end of November this year. Autumn musings...

There has been quite a bit going on at Past Port Tours, and I'm taking a moment to reflect on it while looking forward to what's to come. A recent major highlight for me was attending the unveiling of Newport's newest artwork, the Statue for Lady Rhondda. Following a five-year campaign by the incredible Monumental Women organisation, Lady Rhondda was unveiled a few weeks back just over Millennium Bridge, by members of her family. Margaret Haig-Thomas was Newport's most active suffragettes, she went to prison for blowing up a post box and a blue plaque now marks the location on Risca Road. It was a wonderful celebration of a fantastic campaign to commemorate some of Wales' most important women. The first Saturday in October saw the first of my Newport Hospitality Tours. It was a resounding success and 15 of us circumnavigated parts of the city to experience some of the highlights of Newport's food and drink offerings, it was a tremendous success.
